If you are a new or aspiring author, or an entrepreneur who needs to grow their social media presence, I AM HERE FOR YOU.
All publishers talk about “building your platform” so you can get a book deal.
Platform. Platform. Platform.
It’s like the “location” of the real estate world.
When I began discussing my book proposal with my literary agent, I knew I needed a platform— but didn’t know how to build one.
It’s the same thing for entrepreneurs earning their living by growing their online social media presence.
I made so many mistakes and committed dreadful faux pas while learning how social media works. In other words: I was doing social media all wrong. I was all over the map, as they say. I didn’t have a publishing contract for the book I was writing and felt pressured to get my platform numbers up. The social media gurus told me what I was supposed to be doing and I tried to implement their advice. It was overwhelming, to say the least.
My beginnings were less than stellar.
On Twitter, I grew to a record number of 7,500+ followers—only to realize that I had done it all wrong. Consequently, I am still in the process of correcting those early mistakes. And I’ve had thousands unfollow me in the process. #epicFAIL
On Instagram, almost all of my posts have WORDS on them. #epicFAIL
On Pinterest…well, let’s not talk about Pinterest. I have a Pinterest account and barely know the first thing about it. It gives me hives if I think about it too long. #epicFAIL
My email list? “What email list?”, I asked. #epicFAIL
“Blog regularly,” they said. Hahahahahaha!!! #epicFAIL
The fact that social media algorithms change so quickly does not help. It’s hard to keep up. What works one day, doesn’t work the next day.
Even with the steep learning curve I am now a published author and entrepreneur.
In correcting the many mistakes I made I’ve learned what works (and what doesn’t). Now, using the tips and tricks I acummulated the hard way, I launch books and coach authors for a living.
I am in the process of creating tools and resources for aspiring authors and entrepreneurs who need an online social media presence. I would love to share them with you as I go.
